Executive Director Position

Job Description

Job Title:  Full time Executive Director for Collins Children’s Home, a Christian-based home that cares for children and others placed within the home, which is located in Seneca, South Carolina.
 

Description and Responsibilities: 

Under the direction of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors, the Executive Director plans, executes, and evaluates the daily activities of the Collins Children’s Home and has the ultimate responsibility for working with families and determining who will be accepted into the Collins Children’s Home and for the safety, health, nurturing, and life skills development of all children and others placed and living within the home.  In addition, the Executive Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the operations and programs of Collins Children’s Home including budgeting; meeting with the Board of Directors; managing, training, and recruiting personnel; and making all required reports to federal, state, county, and licensing agencies, as required by law.  The Executive Director is the primary point of contact with public and private agencies, the media, foundations, businesses, civic clubs, and religious organizations in the community and is involved in development and fund raising for the Home.  This is an exempt employment position.
 

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

In addition to being a committed Christian, the successful candidate should have:

  • A bachelor’s degree with preference given to degrees in business and behavioral and social sciences plus related job experience with a Masters degree preferred.

  • A minimum of 4+ years of management and/or supervisory experience in child welfare.

  • A working knowledge of budget development, fiscal management, and various governmental funding sources.

  • An understanding of DSS and DDSN regulations.

  • Be personable and a good communicator including excellent writing and computer skills. 

  • The ability to multitask, creatively problem-solve, and work independently, while formulating a team approach that is culturally competent.

  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.

  • Knowledge of child growth and development and of family welfare.

  • The ability to pass all background checks not limited to SC Law enforcement, Department of Social Services Abuse and Neglect, and National Sex Offender Register.

  • Willingness to be on call and work evenings and weekends if necessary.

  • A valid driver’s license.

Remuneration and Benefits:

Remuneration will be commensurate with education and experience.  In addition, other benefits not limited to health and dental insurance and a retirement plan will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
