Collins Home Tutoring
Almost anything can become a learning experience if there is enough caring involved. ~Mary MacCracken

Many of our young people lost opportunities to experience success and confidence in their academic life. Some of the children have missed a lot of classroom time due to interruptions caused by their life’s difficulties.
Motivating Children to Develop Crucial Skills
Our Tutoring Program was created for Volunteers to offer academic assistance to our young people struggling with their school work. Volunteers in our Tutoring Program make a dramatic impact on our students' academic life. We believe this is accomplished by working one-on-one with a student and helping them develop good study skills and an enthusiasm for learning.
Reading and Math Tutoring Most Common Need
Most of our kids need tutoring to help improve their reading and math skills. Volunteers are paired with a young person to assist with homework and make-up assignments. The goals are to help our children feel more confident in their academic abilities.
Volunteers go through a screening process requiring consent to a criminal background check, TB skin test and must provide personal references. They are then matched with a student and commit to working with that student one hour per week for the duration of the academic school year.
Our Tutoring Program is an excellent choice for Volunteers who have little to no mentoring experience but, would like to try developing a positive relationship with a young person who needs guidance.
